How to add, modify or delete metadata fields in the layout

In this section you will learn how to modify the page layout of the metadata entities, to add new sections and to create, modify or delete metadata fields. At the end, configure the forms layout of that specific metadata entity.

Create new custom field

Click on this button to create a new metadata field. This will open the following form:

Display Name. Introduce the name that will be displayed for the new metadata field.
Type. Select from the drop down list the type of field you want to create (Number, Date, Short Text, Long Text, Select, ...). To know more details about all the available metadata types, go to Metadata Field Types
Is mandatory. Check this box if the metadata field has to be mandatory or required to introduce by the user in the form.
Is unique. Check this box if the metadata field value cannot be repeated.

To cancel the operation, click "Cancel". To save the changes and keep in the creation form, click "Save". To save the changes and go back to the previous list, click "Save & Go Back".

Edit custom field

Click on this icon to edit the custom metadata field. This will open the Edit Field form:

You cannot edit the Type of an already created metadata field. To know more details about all the available metadata types, go to Metadata Field Types

To cancel the operation, click "Cancel". To save the changes and keep in the creation form, click "Save". To save the changes and go back to the previous list, click "Save & Go Back".

Delete custom field

Click on this icon to delete the custom field. This action will show the following dialog:

Click

to delete the selected users, or

to cancel the operation.

If the element you want to delete has dependences , it won't be deleted and the system will show you a list of existing dependences

Create new section

Click on New Section" to create a new metadata section to organize your custom metadata fields.
Introduce a name for the new section
Drag and drop your custom metadata fields into this section, over the text "Drop here":

The changes will be automatically saved.

Delete custom section

Click on this icon to delete your custom sections.

This action won't delete the fields in the section. The fields that were in the deleted section will come back to the "Existing fields" list;
